Executive Functioning

  • Stress that is created from having lagging executive function skills impacts our ability to regulate of emotions and reactions.

  • As we gain executive function skills through scaffolding, our stress level decreases and confidence, esteem and motivation increase.

  • Scaffolding is when we support a person as they learn a new concept or task by breaking the task down into manageable steps.

  • Emotional Regulation indicates that the person is having a hard time.

  • Behavior is communication for a need that is not being met.
